Dr. Basit Yaqoob

Dr. Basit is a mechanical engineer with expertise in locomotion modeling and prototyping. He has been involved in various projects throughout his career. His work on undulatory locomotion provides insights into body adaptability in viscous and frictional environments. It highlights the significance of body compliance and its relevance to environmental characteristics. He found out the ecological adaptations of undulatory locomotors in various environments based on the minimization of the cost of transport and energy efficiency. Dr. Basit provided a supporting framework to understand the scattering of undulatory locomotors around obstacles. This research backs the idea of mechanical intelligence used by animals to navigate through unstructured and cluttered environments. He is also developing locomotion models for ants to study how movement patterns differ among various species.
